LG upcoming smartphone, the G7, is now becoming the talk of the town. But it seems that the company is not planning to launch the next flagship anytime soon as the LG CEO has ordered to restart the development of the G7 from scratch.
According to a report by The Investor, Jo Seong-jin, Vice Chairman and CEO of LG Electronics has ordered the team behind G7 to halt recent work related to the development of the latest smartphone. The report further highlights that CEO has said to review the new product from the scratch. “Right after the vice chairman made the announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show last week, a direct order was sent down to the working-level officials to start over,” a company official who asked for anonymity told The Korea Herald.
The revision of the latest flagship device could push the launch date to April. The move is in line with LG CEO recent remark that it will launch future handsets “when it is needed” and it will not launch it just because other rivals do.
LG is reportedly planning to rename its 2018 flagship smartphone. That means the company will discontinue the G series. As per reports, the upcoming LG G6 successor will the first phone to come with the new branding. The smartphone was reported to come with an advanced Iris scanner. The scanner, reports claimed, not will help lock the phone but will keep sensitive info safe by locking apps if it finds the user is not the owner of the phone.
